Verdox Demonstrates Electrochemical Carbon Capture From Aluminum Smelting
U.S. climate tech company Verdox has successfully completed initial testing of its all-electric carbon capture technology in collaboration with Norwegian aluminum and renewable energy company Hydro. The trial demonstrated carbon capture directly on aluminum smelter emissions in preparation for large-scale demonstrations and potential future commercial deployment.

Verdox, an electric carbon capture and removal company, today was announced as a winner of the $1M XPRIZE Carbon Removal Milestone award as part of the Verdox & Carbfix team. This XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition, funded by Elon Musk and the Musk Foundation, is the largest incentive prize in history and the XPRIZE Carbon Removal teams represent the largest collection of innovators working on carbon removal. Phase two of the competition will see an additional $80M distributed among three winners in 2025.
Verdox Captures $80M to Develop Novel Electric Carbon Removal Technology
Verdox, an electric carbon capture and removal company, launched today and announced $80M in committed capital from a syndicate including Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV), Prelude Ventures, and Lowercarbon Capital. The investment will be leveraged to develop and deploy the company’s novel electrochemical carbon capture technology.
