Amplify Cell Technologies, a joint venture between Accelera, Daimler Trucks & Buses US Holding LLC and PACCAR, recently broke ground at its new battery cell manufacturing plant in Marshall County, Mississippi.

Accelera by Cummins, Daimler Trucks & Buses US Holding LLC and PACCAR have completed the formation of their joint venture, now known as Amplify Cell Technologies, to localize battery cell production and the battery supply chain in the United States. This strategic collaboration will advance zero-emissions technology for electric commercial vehicles and industrial applications. Amplify will soon begin construction of a 21-gigawatt hour (GWh) factory in Marshall County, Miss., with potential for further expansion as demand grows. The factory is expected to create more than 2,000 U.S. manufacturing jobs and is targeting the start of its production operations in 2027.

“PACCAR reported excellent revenues and net income in the first quarter of 2024,” said Preston Feight, chief executive officer. “PACCAR’s results reflect ongoing demand for premium quality DAF, Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks, aftermarket parts and financial services. I am very proud of our employees and dealers who have delivered outstanding trucks and transportation solutions to our customers.”

PACCAR utilizes its comprehensive Supplier Performance Management Program (SPM) to evaluate supplier achievements in the areas of product development, operations and aftermarket support, and alignment with PACCAR’s key business objectives.

PACCAR will exhibit its next generation of commercial vehicles that feature advanced, customer-focused technologies at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. CES 2024 runs from January 9-12, with PACCAR’s exhibit located in booth #3501, West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

PACCAR and Toyota Motor North America, Inc. (Toyota) today announced an expansion of their joint efforts to develop and produce zero emissions, hydrogen fuel cell (FCEV) Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks powered by Toyota’s next-generation hydrogen fuel cell modules. The expanded agreement supports ongoing development and commercialized zero-emission versions of the Kenworth T680 and Peterbilt 579 models featuring Toyota’s hydrogen fuel cell powertrain kit, with initial customer deliveries planned for 2024.

PACCAR utilizes its comprehensive Supplier Performance Management program (SPM) to evaluate supplier achievements in the areas of product development, operations and aftermarket support, and alignment with PACCAR’s key business objectives.

PACCAR annually recognizes suppliers who exceed PACCAR’s 10 ppm quality standard, or the equivalent of 10 defective parts for every million components shipped to PACCAR. To qualify, suppliers must also meet demanding criteria for customer support and continuous improvement. For 2022, PACCAR recognizes 453 suppliers in 34 countries on five continents for achieving this high level of quality performance.

PACCAR is launching its SuperTruck 3 program to continue the development of its Class 8 Kenworth and Peterbilt battery electric and fuel cell vehicles, along with its vehicle charging stations. SuperTruck 3 is a DOE initiative to develop state of the art zero emissions medium- and heavy-duty trucks. PACCAR received a $33 million matching grant for the highly selective program. “The SuperTruck 3 award underscores PACCAR’s industry leadership in zero emissions commercial vehicles,” said John Rich, PACCAR chief technology officer.

PACCAR, a leader in zero emissions commercial vehicles, announced today a five-year supply agreement for battery power systems with Romeo Power, Inc. (“Romeo Power”), a leading battery technology company headquartered in Los Angeles, California. PACCAR will purchase Romeo Power’s battery packs and battery management software for heavy-duty battery electric Peterbilt 579EV vehicles and Peterbilt 520EV refuse trucks in North America. PACCAR has become a minority shareholder in Romeo Power as part of the strategic alliance.
