Morgan Stanley Investment Management, through investment funds managed by Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing (MSREI), announced today it has partnered with Brightview Senior Living (Brightview) to acquire a portfolio of eight premium senior housing communities from Harrison Street, one of the leading investment management firms exclusively focused on alternative real assets with approximately $56 billion in assets under management. The portfolio, which Brightview originally developed, is comprised of 1,186 units across the Baltimore, Philadelphia, Providence and Boston metropolitan areas. Brightview will continue to operate the communities.

Høegh and family trusts (“Høegh Family”), will retain its 50% ownership stake.

Morgan Stanley Investment Management (“MSIM”) today announced the launch of its latest ETF, Parametric Equity Plus ETF (Ticker: “PEPS”), a US large-cap equity strategy. Since the introduction of MSIM’s first ETFs in 2023, the platform has grown to over $3.3 billion in ETF assets with 16 total strategies that span asset classes and themes. Listed on the Nasdaq, the latest addition to the platform is the third Parametric ETF brought to market and follows the conversion of three active fixed income mutual funds to Eaton Vance ETFs earlier this year.

Morgan Stanley Investment Management (“MSIM”) today announced it has completed the conversion of a fixed income mutual fund to an exchange-traded fund (“ETF”). The latest addition to the ETF platform follows the conversion of two fixed income mutual funds to ETFs in March 2024 and expands MSIM’s offering to eight active fixed income ETFs.

Mesa West Capital (“Mesa West”), the private U.S. real estate credit arm of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, today announced it has raised ~$1.37 billion for Mesa West Real Estate Income Fund V, L.P. (“Fund V” or the “Fund”), exceeding Mesa West’s original $1.0 billion fundraising target for the Fund. Fund V is the latest and largest in Mesa West’s closed-end value-add series, which was established in 2005, and is the first successor vehicle raised by Mesa West since joining Morgan Stanley Investment Management. Surpassing the $900 million in commitments raised for Mesa West Real Estate Income Fund IV, L.P., Fund V’s investors include a sophisticated group of domestic and international public and private pension funds, insurance companies and individual investors.

Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) announced today that it has held the final close of Ashbridge Transformational Secondaries Fund II (Ashbridge II) at $2.5 billion of total capital commitments. The amount represents nearly four times of that raised in the predecessor fund, Ashbridge Transformational Secondaries Fund I (Ashbridge I), which closed in 2018 at $675 million. Ashbridge II is one of the largest funds raised to date that is focused exclusively on single asset GP-led continuation vehicles. Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) announced today that it has launched the 1GT growth-oriented private equity platform (1GT or the Platform) focused on investments in companies that will collectively avoid or remove one gigaton of carbon dioxide-equivalent (CO2e) emissions from the Earth’s atmosphere from the date of the Platform’s investment through 2050, the date by which the United Nations has mandated “Net Zero” must be achieved. Part of MSIM’s $200 billion alternative investments business, 1GT is targeting investments in private companies based primarily in North America and Europe whose products or services enable meaningful improvement in their respective clients’ carbon footprint. The 1GT team has been investing in companies seeking to mitigate climate change since 2015, having deployed nearly $600 million of capital to date through and alongside several impact-oriented investment vehicles. For 1GT, the team will tie half of its incentive compensation (commonly known as carried interest) to the underlying investments collectively catalyzing one gigaton avoidance/reduction in CO2e emissions from the date of 1GT’s investment through 2050.

Morgan Stanley China A Share Fund, Inc. (NYSECAF) (the “Fund”) announced today that its Board of Directors has approved a performance-related conditional tender offer to acquire in exchange for cash up to 25 percent of the Fund’s then issued and outstanding shares at a price equal to 98.5 percent of the Fund’s net asset value per share (“NAV”) (minus the costs and expenses related to the tender offer) as of the close of regular trading on the New York Stock Exchange (“NYSE”) on the business day the offer expires (a “Tender Offer”). The Fund will conduct such a Tender Offer only if both (1) the Fund’s total return investment performance measured on a NAV basis does not equal or exceed the total return investment performance of the Fund’s benchmark index, the MSCI China A Onshore Index, during the three-year period commencing on July 1, 2022 and ending on June 30, 2025 (and for the term of successive five-year periods thereafter commencing July 1, 2025), and (2) the Fund’s shares are trading at or below NAV at the conclusion of the applicable measurement period, with such Tender Offer occurring on or before September 30, 2025, and thereafter on each five-year anniversary of September 30, 2025. If the Fund’s performance described above equals or exceeds that of the MSCI China A Onshore Index during any such period or if the Fund’s shares are trading at a premium to NAV at the conclusion of the applicable measurement period, no Tender Offer will be conducted for that period.
