To promote cultural and tourism exchanges between Hubei Province and Latin American and Caribbean countries—and to support Hubei’s efforts to build itself into a world-renowned cultural tourism destination—the “Discover Hubei, Beauty of the Yangtze River” Cultural Tourism Promotion Event for Latin American and Caribbean Envoys in China was held on November 21, 2025 at the Hubei Media Group Headquarters.

The event brought together 21 diplomats from 14 Latin American and Caribbean countries, including Dominica, the Bahamas, and Argentina—five of them ambassadors. An immersive exhibition area centered on the two major cultural tourism axes, “Shenwu Gorge” and “Red-Yellow”, showcased Hubei’s rich culture through displays such as Yihong tea, Chu incense, Han embroidery, Ying shan thread flowers, and layered embroidery. The beloved cultural tourism IP “Tunbao” also interacted with guests, offering a lively window into Hubei’s charm.
Using culture and tourism as a medium, the event highlighted Hubei’s natural beauty and cultural depth, building a bridge of cooperation and enabling “Discover Hubei” to reach the world.
Dragons Dancing in Harmony: A Vibrant Opening Ceremony

The event opened with the dynamic dragon-and-lion dance performance Dragons Soaring, Lions Leaping. International students from Latin American countries and Chinese students from Hubei University maneuvered two symbolic dragons—representing Latin America and China—with seamless coordination, vividly expressing youthful vitality and the deepening friendship between the two sides.
International students also shared wonderful performances:
Ma Feilong showcased the profound legacy of Wudang martial arts through fluid yet powerful movements.
Yan Yuan performed the Enshi folk song Dragon Boat Tune, her graceful voice bringing the essence of Hubei folk culture to life.
These performances aligned with the themes of the “Shenwu Gorge” cultural tourism axis. Students further shared stories of studying and traveling in Hubei, deepening the cultural resonance among the guests.
Interactive Cultural Experience: Tracing Hubei’s Scenic and Cultural Highlights

Diplomats explored the exhibition along an immersive route where iconic scenes representing the two tourism axes—“Shenwu Gorge” and “Red-Yellow”—were displayed in sequence:the mystical Shennongjia forests, the spirit of Wudang, the grandeur of the Three Gorges, towering canyon cliffs, heroic Chibi, white clouds and yellow cranes of Wuhan, and the revolutionary heritage of Hong’an—all forming a vivid, panoramic scroll of Hubei.
Guests enjoyed experiential activities: tasting fragrant Yihong tea; learning Chu-style incense-making from heritage artisans; appreciating the intricate beauty of Han embroidery and layered embroidery; and marveling at the three-dimensional craftsmanship of Ying shan thread flowers. Enthusiastic participation created a warm atmosphere of cultural exchange.
Strengthening Cultural and Tourism Cooperation for the Future
Although China and Latin America are oceans apart, their destinies are connected and their hearts aligned. Hubei sits at a strategic intersection between the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
He Wei, CPC Committee Member and Editor-in-Chief of Hubei Radio and Television, welcomed guests and said the event marked a new starting point for deeper cooperation. He noted that Hubei Media Group will continue to facilitate practical exchanges between Hubei and Latin American and Caribbean countries to yield even greater results.
Bahamas Ambassador to China Paulette Bethel expressed appreciation:“Hubei has unique cultural tourism resources and warm, hospitable people. I see tremendous potential for cultural and tourism cooperation here.”
Tong Jianxin, Second-Level Inspector of the Hubei Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, introduced Hubei’s cultural tourism strengths and showcased the charm of the “Beautiful Yangtze River.” He added:“We sincerely welcome friends from Latin American and Caribbean countries to join us in advancing cultural and tourism cooperation and creating the most beautiful chapter of China–Latin America friendship.”

From the elegance of Hubei’s ancient culture to the vibrant spirit of Latin America, the bridge of cultural tourism has been built, and the path of friendship continues to extend. In the future, both sides will deepen this cross-ocean bond and jointly write a new chapter of mutual learning and shared development.
