Los Angeles, CA - August 19, 2025 - The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) is proud to announce a new partnership with HungryFriend, a fast-growing passive fundraising platform that transforms everyday dining into meaningful donations — all at no cost to the donor.
Through this new initiative, supporters of spcaLA can now give back simply by eating out. By registering their credit or debit card in the HungryFriend app and dining at over 20,000 participating restaurants across the country, a percentage of their transaction will automatically be donated to spcaLA. There are no round-ups, promo codes, or extra steps — just effortless giving with every meal.
“Our supporters are always looking for new ways to help animals, and this is one of the easiest we’ve ever seen,” said spcaLA President Madeline Bernstein. “You simply dine out, and that meal helps fund programs that prevent cruelty, rescue animals, and support adoptions. It’s that simple.”
spcaLA’s mission — to prevent cruelty to animals through education, law enforcement, intervention, and advocacy — depends on the continued support of individuals and local communities. HungryFriend gives that community a new way to support the mission passively, while enjoying the food they already love.
“Partnering with a trusted organization like spcaLA is exactly why we created HungryFriend,” said Mike Smallwood, CEO of HungryFriend. “It’s about making everyday choices more meaningful. We’re honored to help fuel their important work.”
To participate, supporters can:
- Visit the spcaLA HungryFriend page
- Register their card once (it’s secure and encrypted)
- Dine at participating restaurants — and give back automatically
This program is already live and available to anyone who wants to support spcaLA. The organization encourages all supporters, volunteers, and animal lovers to join today and help make every meal matter.
